The Shrine of Our Lady of Weissenstein (Wallfahrtsort Maria Weissenstein-Madonna di Pietralba).
The Shrine of Our Lady of Weissenstein (Wallfahrtsort Maria Weissenstein in German) is one of the main shrines in South Tyrol, and is a considerable amount, 1520 meters, between the villages of Nova Ponente and Mount Saint Peter (Petersberg), clearly visible from city of sanctuary was founded in 1553, after the discovery of the miraculous statue, an alabaster Pieta, made by a local farmer, Leonhard Weißensteiner (hence the name of the shrine), which appeared to the Virgin Mary, healed from his illness. In 1836 the sanctuary, repurchased by the Servants of Mary of Innsbruck, returns to being a place of prayer in the fascist period, the monks were replaced with German-speaking Italian-speaking monks, belonging to the Servants of Mary of Vicenza, who still care . In 1985 the sanctuary was elevated to minor basilica. On the occasion of the Jubilee of 2000 was renewed the youth hostel and the home of the pilgrim.
