Vaginal swab kit for chlamydia testing. The swab consists of a piece of cotton wool on the end of a thin stick. It can be used to take samples from inside the vagina in cases of suspected infection. The swab is sent to a microbiology laboratory for analysis. Chlamydia is a sexually transmitted disease caused by the bacterium Chlamydia trachomatis. It can cause genital, eye and lymph node infections, as well as non-specific urethritis (inflammation of the urethra).
