Perez Simmons,was a leading lawyer in Plymouth county for thirtyyears, a prominent citizen of the State, and one ofthe leaders of the Dorr Rebellion in Rhode was a member of the lower house of the Massa-chusetts Legislature and of the senate ; and also ofthe constitutional convention. While in the senatehe was a prominent member of the committee on therevision of the statutes, of whose work the (GeneralStatutes of i860 was the result. He died on theiSth of May, 1885.
