Col. Christopher G. Batterton, 192nd Wing commander, presents a Certificate of Retirement to Senior Master Sgt. William L. Nearhood, 192nd Wing superintendent of the advanced programs office, during Nearhood's retirement ceremony on May 15, 2022, at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia. In 1985, Nearhood began his military career when he enlisted into the Navy then transferred to the Virginia Air National Guard in 1997 where he finished his nearly 37 year military career.
