TREATMENT FOR EPILEPSY

Photo essay. Insertion of neurocybernetic prosthesis (NPC) for the treatment of epilepsy. The system employed consists of a neurostimulator, pacemaker-like, placed under the left clavicle and connected to small electrodes which are placed around the vagus nerve, at the neck level. Once programmed, the NCP regularly delivers electric pulses that dimish the frequency of epileptic attacks.
