Uranium-bearing mineral rocks. Small samples of rock composed of a mixture of uraninite (black) and its alteration products uranophane and gummite. Uranophane, also known as uranotile, is a rare calcium-uranium silicate hydrate mineral. It is monoclinic and occurs as aggregates or crusts in bright yellow colours. It is more or less equivalent to gummite, an amorphous mixture of uranium minerals derived from the modification of uraninite. Provenance unknown.
