THE ROYAL NAVY DURING THE SECOND WORLD WAR - Two corvettes of a convoy escort force docked on their return to base at Londonderry. On the left is HMS PINK, and on the right HMS LOOSESTRIFE, which attacked a U-boat with depth charges, forcing her to the surface. These and other escort ships over a period of eight days and nights had destroyed four German U-Boats whilst four others were very probably destroyed and a further two probably destroyed HMS PinkHMS Loosestrife
