Detail of the Refurbished Water Wheel – Devon Wildlife Trust Headquarters, Cricklepit Mill, Exeter, Devon.

Detailed image of the refurbished water wheel in the Cricklepit Mill garden, headquarters of The Devon Trust for Nature Conservation, Exeter. Exeter's wealth was created through wool which was produced locally and finished in the Cricklepit area (Now headquarters for the Devon Wildlife Trust). Wool was loaded onto ships for export and returning imports included olive oil, salt cod and wine. The Custom House was built as a base to collect tax on these goods.
