He was a major in thearmy, and coming home, started theReal Estate Register, which he publishedfor several years, which contributed in alarge measure to the growth of the cityand county. He is now engaged in busi-ness in California, and the Annals isglad to learn is prospering. This gentleman became a resident herenearly thirty years ago, when a mere doing various things he enteredupon the study of the law and soonopened a law office and loan agency. Hewas not lacking in energy and those otherqualities which went to make him suc-cessful. He built up a good practice,and in 1S76, after an animated contest,he was elected gounty attorney, and wasre-eiected in 187S. He grew in strengthin his profession, and gathered a lucra-tive practice. He held other importantpositions, and was attorney for corpora-tions, including the M., K. & T. was some years ago appointed theKansas attorney for the M., K. & T., andis enjoying a lucrative salary. He is heldin high esteem by his employers and as-sociate orticers, and by the people of hisold home here. Tom Sedgwick has carvedfor himself, unaided, a marked success. This gentleman was tor many years aprominent actor in our local af^fairs. Hesettled here in
