Seen here in green are the air channels, consisting of the external ear and auditory canal leading into the middle ear cavity, with the mastoid antrum and Eustachian tube. The mastoid air cells are underdeveloped in this individual, so called 'sclerotic mastoid'. The temporal bone and skull base are shown in red.
