Elmer Perez, a scout rifleman with 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Marine Division, surveys the area outside his team’s light armored vehicle (LAV-25) during a field exercise aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif., Oct. 25, 2016.
