Crowds gather in front of the Frauen Kirche ( woman’s church) at the Nuremberg Christmas market, main square, (Hauptmarkt) in Nuremberg, Bavaria, Germany. Every year, on the Friday before the first Advent Sunday, the Nuremberg Christ Angel officially opens the Nuremberg Christmas Market by reciting a solemn prologue. The Christ Angel draped in a white and gold dress and wearing a gold crown, appears with her trumpeters on the balcony of the Frauen Kirche ( woman’s church) overlooking the city’s main square, Hauptmarkt crowded with visitors many from around the world. Nuremberg's Christmas Market is one of Germany's oldest Christmas fairs and dates back to the mid-16th century.
