Thorburn & Co. reminded me February 27 of tire~great blizzard- of March, 1888, and said, "Plenty of time yet for cold ; But he antici- pates an early spring. Business braced up generally at the end of last week, after a characteristic week of Lent, during most of which dullness prevailed. The holiday Feb- ruary 22 gave the week a bad start, from which it was slow in recovering. American Beauties are down to $25 and $30 per hundred for the selected, and have carried all varieties of roses with them. Hadley and a few others of the novelties hold well, but of the lower grades and older varieties the break has been, in quantities, as low as $20 per thousand. Carnations are in large supply, and prices are falling. But few sold at over $2 per hundred, except the noVelties, and $10 per thousand was the quotation for the commoner stock, and even less, to the big buyers. Lilies are lower, few selling above $6 per hundred, and in large lots are of- fered at $5 and less. Valley seldom sells above $ per hundred for the selects. Gardenias do not vary from last week's quotations. _ All kinds of bulbous stock are still in great profu- sion, and prices are at rock-bottom. Southern daffodils are expected shortly.
