The World's only surviving Avro Tutor biplane aircraft prepares for take-off at Old Warden airfield, Bedfordshire, home of the Shuttleworth Trust


The Avro Tutor entered service in 1933 as the RAF's standard trainer. This one was the last to be struck off charge in 1948, and is now the sole remaining example. In 1956 it featured in the film "Reach For The Sky," the story of Douglas Bader. It is painted in the pre-war colours of the RAF College, Cranwell, It is owned by the Shuttleworth Trust and was photographed preparing for take-off at the Trust's Old Warden, Bedfordshire, home.
