Mountain river Balason during the rainy season flows down to the Gangetic plain with strong currents from Himalayan foothills in the terai region of Dudhia, West Bengal. The colour of the river becomes brown due to the huge amount of gravel sand floating from the mountain with the water. In the dry season, the riverbed becomes dry and converted into the firing range of the SUBSIDIARY TRAINING CENTER, Border Security Force, North Bengal (STC BSF NB) known as Dudhiya Firing Range. India.
