Dysart Harbour with the historic Harbourmaster's House and St Serf's Tower.
Dysart Harbour dates back to the early 17th century, although traces of an earlier pier can still be seen at low tide opposite Pan Ha’. The inner harbour was constructed on the site of a former quarry, and the chisel marks of the quarry workers can be seen on the steep rock face above it. By the end of the 18th century local ship owners operated around thirty vessels, trading across the North Sea carrying coal, salt and iron ore. The Harbourmaster’s House overlooking the harbour was renovated and refurbished in 2006 as part of a £1 million project and opened on Sunday 3rd September 2006 as Fife’s first coastal centre. Located in the basement of the three storey building the coastal centre is designed to encourage people to explore the many features of the Fife Coastal Path. The displays within the coastal centre also show some of the local history of the area.
