The various branches of church work were carried onwith energy and fidelity; and those which required female agencywere fostered and watched over with affectionate solicitude byMrs. Spurgeon, whose motherly affection secured for her a wel-come in the families of the church. Mrs. John Spurgeon was the youngest sister of Charles ParkerJervis, Esq., of Colchester, in which town her husband carried onbusiness for many years.
