Mount Vodice (SLO), WWI. The entrance of the cavern from which Gen. Maurizio Ferrante Gonzaga directed the Vodice attack during the tenth battle of the Isonzo. The inscription on the rock says “the 53rd infantry division conquered the Vodice on 18 V MCMXVII. The commander officer, Gen. Gonzaga, directed the action from these rocks, where he stood with his officers, from 17-V to 16-VI-MCMXVII”.
