Whilehe was employed on the Vensges, Central& Matuhsullu Railway, on May 21, 1901,Adams says his engine and seven car*were wrecked, he being absolutely with-out fault in causing the wreck. His leftleg was crushed and later had to be am-putated. Adams says that even before hereceived medical attention he was takenbefore a Magistrate, was fined and thenthrown into prison, where he remained amonth.
