Rowallan Castle, Kilmaurs near Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland. This 13th century ancient castle sits on Carmel Water stream, and was once the residence of Elizabeth Mure, the mistress of King Robert II of Scotland. The Royal Arms of Scotland is carved on the entrance archway. It is monitored by Historic Scotland and is managed by the occupants of the Rowallan Estate. The interior has been modernised under a Schedule Monument Consent and is now available as a guest house holiday let.
