JUMPING DUCKS Flushing, or jumping ducks, is a very pleas-ant sport. This method of hunting comes as arelief to the hunter who has been cramped in ablind all the morning. While the morning flight is55. on, better success can be had with a blind andstool; but as the flight begins to slacken, the huntermarks down the birds that alight near him, andgoes after them on foot. The two things necessaryfor success in this kind of hunting, are: caution inapproaching the birds, and experience in risingshots at long range; as the birds are easily fright-ened, and rise so rapidly that the novice invariablyshoots too low. A very successful method ofwalking up ducks is for two hunters to worktogether, about 60 yards apart. In this way manygood shots are secured, and the birds are moreeasily found and retrieved. SINK-BOX SHOOTING Sink-box shooting is the least attractive formof wild-fowl shooting.
