On the bend of the Spaarne River that cuts its way through the centre of Haarlem is one of Haarlem’s most recognised landmarks, the Molen de Adriaan windmill. The wooden structure constructed in 1778, was rebuilt in 2002 after fire damage in 1932. Although the windmill can produce flour, it becomes operational for the benefit of tourists most weekends. Inside the windmill is a small museum.
