Seroma following lumpectomy (surgical excision of a malignant tumour) an 81 year old breast cancer patient. A seroma is an accumulation of fluid which can sometimes occur after surgery. Fluid leaks out of damaged blood vessels, and inflammation can also contribute to the swelling. It is sometimes treated by draining the fluid.
