A lone tourist hiked atop a large hill to obtain a different photographic viewof the area. The location provided an elevated platform of icebergs floating free in the lake in front of the Vatnajökull glacier. The body of water developed into a lake as the glacier receded from the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. It is believed to be the deepest lake in Iceland and is considered one of the country's natural wonders.
