Gortyn was an ancient city in central Crete built from neolithic time and flourishing in ancient Greek and Roman times as tne Gortyn Code demonstrates. Gortis war ein wichtige Stadt im Landesinneren Kretas und wurde bereits in der Steinzeit besiedelt.
