Christiansborg Slot Palace Courtyard detail. Royal Monogram. Copenhagen, Denmark. Danish Parliament building
Christiansborg Slot Palace Courtyard detail. Royal Monogram. Copenhagen, Denmark. It is the seat of the Danish Parliament and the Danish Prime Minister's Office and the Supreme Court of Denmark. Part of the Palace is also used by the Danish monarch, including the Royal Reception Rooms, the Palace Chapel and the Royal Stables. The Palace thus houses the three branches of government, the executive, legislative and judicial power and is the only building in the world to accommodate all three government powers in a single building. The palace displays three different styles of Danish architecture, as the result of two fires, the first in 1794 and the second in 1884. The main section of the palace was completed in 1928 in the Neo-baroque style. The Neoclassical chapel dates back to 1826 and the showgrounds were built from 1738-4 in a baroque style.
