It is sought herein to con-tinue that history to the year 1894, making it thus to embrace thefirst seventy-five years of the Societys operations. It was hopedthat Dr. Reid might himself extend the account of the work, buthis enfeebled health forbade it. In 1877 the Board of Managers ofthe Missionary Society directed that the undersigned be employedto aid Dr. Reid in tlie preparation of a history of the Society, whichhe did, searching all the records, correspondence and other materialof the Society through those sixty years of its growth, compiling, andotherwise contribut
