The Russian AKM (Avtomat Kalashnikova Modernizirovanniy - automatic rifle Kalashnikov modernized). The AKM is an upgrade of the original AK47 assault rifle designed by Mikhail Kalashnikov. The AKMS (S – Skladnoy – folding) has a folding stock making it suited to motorized units and paratroops who require a more compact weapon.
