There are various types but the so-tailed Maripyosa or Butterfly Tulips arc by far the most colorful. Choose them for a sheltered, well-drained, sunny spot. Place the bulbs 2 inches apart and cover 2 inches deep with fine soil. They may be grown also in cold frames or pots. After the flowering period the bulbs should be kept as dry as possible until fall. Clavatus âGiant Strain. Vigorous plants carrying extra-large, pure golden cups ^^ atop their rigid strong stems.
