Henri Farman (1874-1958), French aviation pioneer, after winning the Deutsch-Archdeacon Prize for the first flight of more than one kilometre in a heavier-than-air aircraft. Farman won the prize on 13th January 1908 at Issey-les-Moulineaux, France, flying a Voisin biplane.
