The fact thatthe engine is in transfer service requiresa certain amount of drifting in the dayswork, and this form of valve takes careof the results of running shut off wherea superheated steam appliance is in the first place the Chambers throttlevalve takes steam from the highest pointof the dome and thus avoids syphoningwater into the dry pipe. The valve has asingle seat, but is fully balanced, whichis manifestly easier to grind and keepproperly in repair. The valve does notrequire removal for internal boiler in-spection. The parts are standardized soas to be interchangeable with those of anyother Chambers valves on the road. It has been applied to this B. & engine.
