In the development of afilm aerial camera of this type thevibration of the machine presentedan obstacle that seemed almost in-surmountable. The scheme of hold-ing the film firmly in the recordingplane by constant vacuum suctionproduced by a A^nturi tube finallysolved the problem. The time be-tween exposures can be regulatedby a damper control mechanism forthe wind motor. When the windmotor is started, exposures aremade at predetermined fixed inter-vals to suit the photographic re- ^ KODAK SALESMAN. Model K-l quirements. Flying at a height of10,000 feet, an area approximatelytwo square miles in size can bephotographed with the K-l Cameraat each exposure. In spite of the fact that most ofthe routine photographic work inthe war zones is done at high alti-tudes there are times neverthelesswhen lower flying is done and forthis purpose a light-weight, easilyoperated hand-held camera is de-sired. For the purpose the KodakCompany has developed the AlodelA-1 for use with plates and theModel B-1 for use with film. Theshutter release is so located as tobe easily operated by the observersright thumb. As a protectionagainst exposures of the lens to fog, mist or dirt, use is made of a safetyshutter in front of the lens. A direct vision tubular finder having inter-secting vertical and horizontal wiresprovides proper sighting cameras are fitted with 10-inchHawkeye Aerial Lenses and FocalPlane Shutters.
