Prothorax, elytra, sterna, andabdomen opaque, owing to a conspicuous sericeous or pruinosebloom. Prothorax and elytra with a thin fringe of pale hairsor long setae, similar hairs on under-surface and legs. Head shining; with fairly dense and sharply-definedpunctures. Clypeus with slightly coarser punctures than 211 between the eyes, hinddistinctly separated fromelevated. Antennae eight-. Cheiragra variabilis, Lea. suture moderately distinct, notlabrum, sides and apex slightlyclub three-jointed, lamellae small. Prothorax notm uch widerthan the great-est length, sidesevenly rounded,front anglesproduced andacute, hindones somewhatrounded off;puncturesvaguely ratherstrongly separ-ately roundedat apex, sidesgently rounded; striae and their contained punctures obscuredby bloom; odd interstices slightly raised above and widerthan the even ones. Abdomen small and curved to of hind coxae about one-third shorter than meta-sternum; tibiae stout, the front ones each with two largeacute teeth and a very small one; front tarsi with four basaljoints rather wide, the claw joint strongly notched near apex,and with very unequalclaws, the larger onevery large, stronglycurved, and with alarge basal appendix,the smaller oneslightly larger thanthose on the othertarsi,
