Only recently was it discovered,as the result of a series of experiments con-ducted in the Mulford Research Laborator-ies, that the changes to which the deteri-oration in these preparations is due, arecaused primarily by the action of oxygenof the air which is held in solution in theliquid. Further investigations show that withcomplete exhaustion and exclusion of airfrom the container and its contents, practi-cal permanency may be secured, and in ac-cordance with this, the H. K. MulfordCompany have placed upon the marketstandardized preparations of Ergot, Digi-talis and Strophanthus in Vacules (Am-puls), which differ from ordinary sealedampules in that all the air is removed fromthe liquid contained in the Vacules, whichensures permanency to the product.
