The statue of Caledonia crowning her sons,a Highland reaper and a ploughboy, on what was once the headquarters of the Highland Society in Edinburgh.

The building on George IV Bridge was a printworks in 1836-7, the building (now used by the Central Library's Fine Art Department) became the headquarters of the Highland Society, an improvement society founded in 1784. Caledonia is seen crowning a Highland reaper and a ploughboy above the motto 'Semper armis nunc industria' ('Always by force of Arms, and now Industry') and the Society's coat-of-arms. This shows a shepherd, crook-in-hand, cradling a lamb with the ewe (in front of a harrow) and his shepherd dog at his feet between a horse and bull as onlookers.
