Puffin landing on a grassy cliff top with it's wings above it's head


When nesting on land, puffins can be quite territorial. As a result, they display an interesting range of behaviours, such as this one. When coming in to land in someone else’s patch the puffins stoop down low to show that they mean no harm before they scutter off towards their own burrow. I sat and watched the puffins coming into land for the evening on Handa Island, Scotland.
