Photograph of an electrostatic turnstile connected to a generator. In the vicinity of an electrified point, the gases (air) become conductors (peak effect). The leakage in the conductive air of the negative charges accumulated on the points of this turnstile electrifies this air negatively. Thus, each tip repels an electrified current of air. By reaction, the turnstile turns in the opposite direction. Dated 21st Century
