Free City of Christiania is located in the Christianshavn neighborhood of Copenhagen, Denmark, Scandinavia.
The Free City of Christiania (Danish: Fristaden Christiania) is a partially self-governed neighborhood of about 1,000 residents. It covers an area of 34 hectares in the neighborhood of Christianshavn (Christian Harbour), in the capital of Denmark, Copenhagen. Christiania was established with a semi-legal status as a community of neighbors that proclaims itself independent of the Danish state. Christiania is organized around Pusher Street ('The Street of the Narcotics Seller'), a street with sections of asphalt, sections of cobblestones and sections of dirt, where there are some bars, shops, souvenirs and cultural centers. Leaving Pusher Street there is a path around a canal, which runs between the houses of the "Christianites", many of them personalized. There are nurseries, bridges, and sculptures in the water.
