A child collects water from the Dauki river, while parents work as stone labourers. The river in its downward journey from the Himalayas carries an abundance of rocks and boulders and these have given rise to a thriving stone crushing industry. Workers from different parts of Bangladesh especially from Netrokona, kishorganj, Gouripur and Tangail districts come to work here during the high productive season from January to March-April. About 60% of the workforce consists of women and children and their average wage is 300 to 500 taka (approx. 1US$=73 Taka) per day. Jaflong, Sylhet, Bangladesh.
