4th May 2015 Avatiu Harbour, Rarotonga ,Cooks islands Crewman 'Bruno' on one of the Vakas that docked at Rarotonga for the inaugural ‘Te Manava Vaka Festival’ organised as part of the Cook Islands 50th anniversary celebrations . These are to be joined by five double-hulled sister voyaging canoes from Fiji, Samoa and Tahiti and two canoes from Aotearoa .The main traditional welcoming ceremony is taking place Monday 25 .5 .2015 at Avana historical site where ancient seafarers set off on 7 Vahas for thousands of miles, carrying everything they would need.
