A Japanese or Asian oyster, freshly harvested from the sea around the west coast of Sweden and placed on wooden decking.

This oyster was harvested from the coastal area of western Sweden, but was identified as being a Pacific or Japanese oyster that is not native to the waters around Sweden. These oysters are being found with increasing regularity in the waters around the Swedish coast. It is not known if global warming is accounting for this increase in population of these oysters in this area.
