Liverpool, UK. 2nd Aug, 2014. Multi-coloured male Wig at the Gay pride Festival Parade. Costumes and male Characters in Fancy Dress and wigs, at the fifth Liverpool Pride celebrations of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender life, held near Liverpool's Stanley Street Gay Quarter. The March through the city centre streets starts the day in celebratory style from St George's Plateau. Organisers encourage as many groups, organisations and individuals to participate, entertainment and LGBTQIA+ activities are also planned for the muster at St Georges Hall.
The festival included a colourful, lively parade along Blackpool’s famous promenade which will showcasing the very best of the resort’s LGBT community and friends. A series of cultural events are to be held to give the public the opportunity to discover more about Blackpool’s rich LGBT history and additionaly to this there will be plenty of community events taking place to encourage the whole resort to join in with the festivities. “About 80 countries still criminalise homosexuality, with penalties ranging up to life imprisonment and even the death penalty. The battle for LGBT equality is a worldwide struggle. Despite recent setbacks in Russia, Cameroon, India, Nigeria and Uganda, the overall global trend is towards greater rights for LGBT people. Queer freedom is an unstoppable international phenomenon.”
