The position of theintersection of the vertical struts with this line should be givenon the drawing. Set off these points on the struts and adjust to astring stretched horizontally passing through the extreme points. To sum up, if the fuselage is to be symmetrical in both plan andelevation, tlu great thing to aim at is t(» true it up in siich a waytliat (1) the mid«lle points of all cross struts, top and bottom, arein one vertical plane and (2) the middle points on all side strutsare in one horizontal plane. Where a fuselage is constructed in tAvoor more parts, the longerons of the front and rear sections are fROf/T CARKiA&t. thNDlHC Wtl££L A TYPICAL AEROPLANE—An AvrO TRACTOR BIPLANE. It must be borne inmind that the plan of the front portion of many machines issymmetrical in plan view only. In making adjustments in a two-part fuselage, it is well to work from the junction of the front andrear portions. When the internal cross bracing wires have been adjusted, theyshould be checked with the aid of a trammel, to make sure that thediagonals are equal. If a stretched string is used as a gauge torhorizontal lines, it should not touch any of the struts, or otherparts between its points of support. A try-square should V)e usedfor checking alignment. It is a very good p
