Rafferty Jr., the Commander of the 18th Field Artillery Brigade, discusses the 1863 Battle of Chancellorsville on the elevated area called Hazel Grove, where the Confederate Army used gained tactical advantage through the use of artillery fires on Jan. 19. Brigade leaders discussed military doctrine, to include the warfighting functions, principles of war, and fundamentals of mission command at the staff ride.
