The Sofia Metropolitan Railway is an underground railway system servicing Sofia the capital of Bulgaria. Construction is delayed by the fact that under Sofia there are many vitally important historical monuments. In the Serdika Station for example you can see unearthed Thracian and Roman ruins. Construction began in 1960 and today there are 8 stations - more are planned.
