It is estimated the improve-ments put in the park in the restoration could notbe duplicated for less than one and one-half milliondollars, and is now ready for acceptance by thecity. / The four new bridges over the river DesPeres have been named for the buildings whichstood nearest them—Liberal Arts, Manufac-tures, Education and Transportation. They Though Forest Park. SAIXT LOUIS 89. Bridge, Forest Park. are of steel with concrete abutments, the onlywood in them being the flooring. The ExpositionCompany have also erected a magnificent shelterhouse on the site of the Missouri building, over-looking nearly one half of the park, the centralresidence section of the city westward fromUnion avenue, Washington University and Uni-versity City. This building will seat several hundredpeople, and if necessary shelter one thousand—the architect is George H. Kessler, landscape archi-tect of the Louisiana Exposition. On condition that a Two hundred thousanddollar statue to Thomas Jefferson be erected on thesite of the United States Government building, theUnited States government has relinquished allclaim to any surplus the Louisiana Purchase Ex-position Company may have remaining after allobligations are met.
