Technical Sgt. Todd Phillip, a unit training manager with the 673d Security Forces Squadron, performs security operations during a simulated protest as part of exercise Polar Force 17-1 at JBER, Alaska, Nov. 1, 2016. The simulated protest began as a peaceful demonstration which escalated, resulting in a few aggressive protesters being detained and turned over to local law enforcement. The exercise tests the base's ability to integrate, mobilize, and prepare assigned personnel, aircraft and equipment for a wartime mission and to employ forces and weapons systems.
