An 1898 printed photograph of James Hutchinson Funk (1842-1923), Speaker of the Iowa House of Representatives, USA ---- He was married to Elizabeth Gibson who died in 1865. After farming his property he began practising law in 1871 and the following year entered politics as a prosecuting & city attorney. He served two terms as a member of the Illinois legislature. Ill health forced a move to Iowa Falls, Hardin county, ( in 1890 farming & horse breeding) before taking up law again. He was also mayor of Iowa Falls & was author of the Mulct Law Measure
