5TH FLEET AREA OF OPERATIONS (Aug. 15 2018) Fireman Zachary Stone mans a .50-caliber machine gun aboard the guided-missile destroyer USS Jason Dunham (DDG 109) during the ship’s transit of the Bab al-Mandeb strait to escort the fleet replenishment oiler USNS Laramie (T-AO 203). Dunham is deployed to the 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and the Pacific through the western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points.
