COOKE, Edward Dean, lawyer and Congress-man, born in Dubuque County, Iowa, Oct. 17,1849; was educated in the common schools andthe high school of Dubuque; studied law in thatcity and at Columbian University, Washington,DC, graduating from that institution with thedegree of Bachelor of Laws, and was admitted tothe bar in Washington in 1873.
